Well, after looking through my blog it has officially been 1 year (and 3 days) since there was a post that was ONLY about Julimae. So I decided that a picture post was needed. These are ALL the pictures of Julimae from my phone. However, I have only had my phone since December.

Earlier this year, Julimae was taken off of breeder watch and was spayed.

I'm still here! And so is Julimae! =D How cool is that?

But no, the real big news is..........

My family is getting a new guide dog puppy!!!

After the parvo outbreak my mom decided to submit a puppy application to see if we could get one soon. And we did! We are getting her next week! We don't know anything except that she is 9 weeks old and is a girl. But she did just have hernia surgery with two other puppies and they are all coming to Utah. So if anyone knows anything...... :) *hint hint nudge nudge*

Except for her name. I don't want to know that yet.

This past week had been weird in my house with only two dogs instead of three. Julimae has been good and I don't think she has noticed that Rina is gone. Cruiser, on the other hand knows that she is gone. He was very sad last weekend but has been getting better. He does look for her when we get home, I think he thinks that she has been at the vet again. We've been taking him for a lot of car rides to cheer him up.

We have already started thinking about another dog. I feel bad because it is so soon but we know we will be getting another, it's hard to keep us away from animals. We decided that if Julimae gets career changed we are going to keep her. If not we are going to get a German Shepard. I think we are waiting until we hear news of Julimae before we make a final decision because if we adopted a dog now we would have two pet dogs and a PIT and our city limits 2 dogs per household and then if Julimae did get career changed we wouldn't be able to keep her or to puppy raise anymore. My mom and step dad have also talked about raising a puppy of their own. We don't know yet.

Anyway, there's an update of our pet dog situation. I'll post some Julimae stuff later today.

My little Rina girl

My little rat terrier, Rina, passed away this morning. She was my first dog. I got her when I was six for Christmas. She was a great little dog and I love her to death. Her liver started failing two weeks ago and she was slowly improving until yesterday. She started bleeding from her mouth and she was very weak so we took her to the pet urgent care. They did a couple tests and gave her some medicine and they thought she would be fine. On the way home she died in my arms in the car. That was the toughest thing I have ever been through. The worst part is she didn't get to see her favorite people (my mom and step dad) in her last moments.

She was such a great dog and I miss her very much.

Graduation Trip Part 4: Going Home

On the way home I started thinking about Meade and how I didn't feel like I missed him anymore. I felt like there was closure and our lives are all the way they are supposed to be now. I still love that dog, but I don't feel a need to be with him anymore. It's a good feeling! He has a wonderful purpose in life and I'm proud of him!

The morning after graduation I made this:

I chose this song because it is one of my all time favorite songs and I think it really does describe puppy raising, even if it wasn't it's original intention. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. :)

Graduation Trip Part 3: Graduation

When we got to the GDB campus we went to the visitor center and everyone there instantly knew who we were. We had called ahead and told them our situation. They were all glad to hear that we were ok. Someone took Julimae to the kennel and another person took us to the dorms! We got to wait in the library while someone else got to go get Rob (Meade's partner) and Meade. While we were waiting we talked to Meade's trainer. She said that he was a great dog and once she got some of the stuff through Meade's thick skull he was perfect. Then Rob and Meade came in. Meade walked in and didn't see us. Then he walked up to my step dad and sniffed him and started jumping and wagging (Meade was never a big wagger) Then he turned and saw me and practically jumped in my lap. Then he turned to my mom and went over to give her kisses (She was the only one he was allowed to lick because I hate dog kisses. Julimae is being trained the same way) then he came back to me. After he settled down we introduced ourselves to Rob. He is a great guy and in his 50s or 60s. He is the perfect match for Meade and Meade already loves him! Since we got there so late we only had time to tell him that we did get him and Meade a present but we left it at the hotel because of the whole hostage situation, before we had to go and take pictures. During the pictures it took some work to get Meade to look at the camera. We eventually ended up saying BZZT to make him look. He recognized the word but didn't howl. But he did look at the camera and our pictures look great!

After our pictures we got ready for the graduation ceremony. Rob went with the other students to go wait in the visitor center and I got Meade. Meade was not too happy when Rob left though. We went into a little waiting room once they were ready and graduation started. They showed some videos and then we got to start presenting dogs. Meado was first and when we were offstage and he saw Rob go on stage he got really excited. I went up and gave the leash to Rob and Rob talked about how grateful he was for me and Meade and how wonderful Meade was and then I talked about... Well I don't know. I think I was babbling about what an amazing dog he is.... Not the greatest speech ever but I think I got my point across.
We went to sit down and watched the rest of the graduation! There were some pretty good looking dogs in Meade's class.
After graduation one of the GDB employees came up to us and said she looked online and the whole hostage situation was a hoax. :-P How wonderful. Then we took a tour of the campus. It was so cool! After the tour we got Julimae out of the kennel and went to introduce her to Meade. Meade was jealous when he realized she was his "replacement" and didn't like her very much. When we decided to take Rob out to lunch because we didn't get much visiting time before, we put Julimae back in the kennels because we hadn't grabbed her jacket on the way out of the hotel. We went to lunch and discussed stories about Meade and our personal lives. And had a lot of fun. After lunch we went to the hotel room, which was pleasantly void of police, to pack up our car and get Rob and Meade's presents.
We went back to GDB and went to Rob's dorms to give them the presents. We gave Rob his first, we got him a green leather leash with Meade's name stamped on it! He thought it was great! (Thank you, Megan, for making it for us!) Then we gave Meade a couple of ropes and a brand new Goughnut Stick! He thought that the Goughnut was the best thing ever and stopped paying attention to us to chew on it. Right then I remembered that I wanted to try his BZZT thing so I took the Goughnut (he was not happy) and I attempted it. He was confused at first but when he realized he wouldn't get his Goughnut until he howled he howled for us! Rob thought it was really funny and told us he would go home and show his wife. Then, we said our goodbyes and departed...

Graduation Trip Part 2: The Hotel Conundrum

Well......

It all started when I woke up. I heard my step dad take Julimae out to DYB and he came back in and put her back in the kennel. I fell back asleep and woke up again and took her out myself and fed her. After she got fed my mom took a shower and my dad ate breakfast and I played with her for a while. It was about 8:30 at that time. I took her out again and I came back in and my mom was out of the shower and they were starting to pack up because we weren't going to come back to the hotel room after graduation. My step dad got the first couple things packed and prepared and he went to take them out to the car. When he didn't come back after about ten minutes we started to wonder. Right after our wondering my mom got a call on her phone from a number that she didn't recognize. She answered the phone and it was my step dad, he borrowed someone's cell phone. He told us not to come out of the room and that the hotel was surrounded by police. So I went to look out the window and lo and behold, there were police around our hotel. So we stayed in the room.
A little while later my step dad called again. He had figured out some more stuff. Someone had robbed the hotel and taken the manager hostage and they had a gun. So we stayed in our hotel room some more. I got bored and decided to see if the police had shut down the hotels wifi. They did not, so I posted my depressing blog post and talked to people on Facebook for a while.
Don't you think the police would want to shut down the wifi so that the gunman doesn't have as much access to the outside world? I mean, they could IM some of their goons to go do something or something... I just think it would have been smarter to shut it down. Just in my opinion...
After a little while we got a call straight to our hotel room. I answered and it was the police. They started by asking if my mom and dog were both in the room. I said yes. Then he told me to put a leash on my dog (No, I was just going to let my dog roam free and sic the lunatic with a gun.... :-P) and to come straight out of the room and turn right and they would give us further instruction then.
Me and my mom didn't know if they would want to search our stuff so I stuffed my camera in my pocket and we just left. When we went out of the room and turned right they had a SWAT guy with one of those huge shields and a blinding light. They told us to walk forward and go past them on the right. Behind the shield guy were about twelve police officers with huge guns. Julimae happily trotted by all the men and stopped to sniff the guns. She thought it was a lot of fun. She was even so distracted by the guns she didn't notice the big German Shepard who was very anxious to do some police work.
After walking past the SWAT team we went to the neighboring Wendy's and an officer asked us some questions about if we heard any yelling in the morning, or if we knew anything... etc. We went and met up with my step dad and we told the police that we would rather go to graduation than wait around and do nothing for another two hours. It was about 11:30 at this point, by the way. So he was polite enough and went to get our car for us and we left......

Graduation Trip Part 1: The Drive to Oregon

As you may know, Meade is an official guide dog now!!! My family and I got to go to his graduation on September 11th. We decided to drive because it was cheaper and we also decided to take Julimae with us so she could meet her big brother :)

A couple of days before the trip I went to Costco and got her one of the nice big cedar beds! I originally wanted a round one but all they had was rectangle so I decided to get it anyway, but it turns out it fits perfectly in the back of our SUV. Julimae REALLY likes this bed. She would not leave it for the first couple nights. She thinks it is the best thing ever. She was really happy when we put it in the car for her before we left.

The first day of driving we decided to stop in Boise to see my mom's biological mom and have dinner with them. This was Julimae's first restaurant outing. And, of course, she was perfect! She did want to get up and leave half way through but I made her lay down and she didn't protest again. After that we went to our hotel room and she thought that was THE BOMB DIGGITY. I let her roam around the room the whole time and she was wonderful. She thought that running around with her toys was a great pastime in the hotel. The next day we started to drive to Oregon! She was brilliant and rode in the back of the car like she did before. When we got to Oregon we went to dinner with my mom's cousin. She was great during dinner there too. After that we went to Voodoo Doughnut and she was also great there. She impressed me a whole lot.

We went to Pok Pok in Portland because we had seen it on TV and heard great things about it. I wasn't too impressed with it. It was my first time having Thai food and since I'm a fan of very hot food I ordered the hottest thing on the menu. It even said it was the hottest... It was good but it wasn't that hot. A bag of flamin' hot cheetos is hotter. I was very disappointed. We all shared our food so I got to try some duck (bleck :P) and I also accidentally ate a cube (yes, cube) of pork fat. Who cube's animal fat and puts it on a beef kabob? I thought it was a pineapple piece, but I was way way wrong. It was the worst thing ever! Anyway, Voodoo Doughnut wasn't all it was cracked up to be either. We have also seen it on TV and thought we would try it... Eh. If they were fresh doughnut they would've been better...

Today on the way home from school I got a call from my leader saying that Meade is in class!!!! =D I'm so excited right now! It's so cool to think that he now knows his partner and hopefully already loves them! I also love the thought that someone will love him much more than I ever could and will benefit from him much more than me! He's a great puppy and will make everyone's lives better. I am planning on going to his graduation on September 11th! I'm soo excited!

Sorry I haven't posted any Julimae related stuff lately. She is doing well and has gone on several outings (pictures coming). She is doing ok on her training :/ She tries to get out of everything. What I mean by that is whenever we work on down she will either go into her kennel (she knows her kennel is her safe place and will run in to it whenever stuff doesn't go her way) or she will start wagging her tail like crazy and climb on me and lick me. She is a very stubborn girl and VERY opinionated (if you could use that word to describe a dog... Do dogs have opinions?)
Anywho, she will go to school sometime in October I think. She will go with me to Meade's graduation. And now I must go and I will try to get some more posts tomorrow and pictures!

Julimae is Legal

Julimae is legal!!! We went to get her final shots yesterday. Julimae is a total drama queen though and freaked out when she got the shots. The first shots she got way back when she didn't even care, she cared about these shots! When the vet inserted the needle she cried as loud as she could and wiggled around. She almost fell off the examination table. The second one she didn't wiggle but she still cried. She learned that when she got hurt and cried that we would feel bad and hug her and such so now she thinks that she can keep doing it at things that don't hurt. We've started ignoring her if we know she's ok. She hasn't been on any outings yet but hopefully she will get to go soon.

My Dog Filled Week

This past week I have been very busy with five dogs in the house! The first was, of course, Julimae. The second and third were Rina and Cruiser. No surprise there. The fourth and fifth were Paris and Picassa!!! I got to take care of Paris so that Megan could spend some time with Snickers while he gets settled. Picassa came because my leader, who is taking care of her while she is in heat, went out of town and we were the next people on the list of approved yards for a female in heat. They both came over on Wednesday night after the puppy meeting. On Thursday we went to the puppy truck to meet the new puppy's and Paris got to meet her new little brother. We hung around the house the rest of the weekend. Then yesterday Megan came to pick up her girls and brought over Snickers. He is a wonderful little puppy and has a great personality!

Utah Puppy Truck 8-12-10

Today I went to the puppy truck even though I wasn't getting a puppy. I wanted to see all the new puppies! I also thought it would be good for Julimae to go with us! So we loaded Paris and Julimae in the car (Paris is staying with me for a while so that Megan can focus on the new puppy) and headed out. When we got there the puppy truck hadn't arrived yet so we joined everyone in the grass and waited for it. I got to hang out with Kyle while we waited. He is an awesome dog and was fun to hang out with. Then the puppy truck came and it was time for everyones puppies!! The first to come to our club was Antigua! She is a tiny little yellow girl (pictured below)! After Antigua a little C boy came! His name is Clyde! I think it is an awesome name! And finally after Clyde came Megan's...........................

Long Time, No Blog

It's been a while. I have been busy the last couple weeks. So to make a long story short......

MEADE IS IN PHASE 5!!!!!

He is so smart and amazing! His siblings with him are doing well too. Mia is in 8. Mara is in 5. And McQueen and Misty are in phase 3!

Julimae has been doing well. She is super happy and super smart. Right now she is at the puppy sitters for the weekend and hopefully being a good girl.

Phase Report #2 & #3

First of all, thank you for sending the phase report to me last week if you did!

Secondly, last week Meade was in Phase 0. I was confused until I saw that all the puppies that went back with him (I'm assuming they are all in the same string) were in 0 too. That was kind of tramatic for me but I got through it and now this week Meade is back in phase 1, as are most of (what I think is) his string. Except his brother McQueen. So GO MEADE!!! And good luck to McQueen. Two of his litter mates have already been career changed and I don't want any more!

Julimae 1 Week Update

Julimae has been a fun little fluff ball this first week I've had her. She is a feisty girl and has an attitude. I discovered that she is afraid of loud noises. If she hears one she will run towards me and get in my lap or hide behind my legs. If she hears it again she usually will be brave and go see what it is. It isn't all loud noises just the ones close to her. Here are some of the best pictures from this past week:

Today started like most days. I woke up. Then I got ready to go get Miss J and we drove to pick up Megan and Gabby so they could pick up a puppy for another person in my club. We went to where the puppy truck was coming and we were an hour early. So we waited. Finally the puppy truck came and the puppy storks came out but they had to do their business. So we waited some more. Then they came back and got ready to hand puppies out. The first one to come off was Crystals but Megan was picking him up for her. His name is Keiko. I like it. The next puppy was Joe. Then Joshua. Then Jakota. And finally Julimae.

A couple of weeks before Meade left we were sitting by my Wii and I was playing it. Meade got curious and come over to see why I was swinging a random object through the air. I let him sniff it and I pressed the end against him and said "BZZZT". He jumped back and looked surprised. I did it again and he didn't know what to think of it.

Fast forward a week or two and I "BZZZT"ed him again. I did it with my fingers this time though. Then he started to bark when I did it. From there he started howling. So finally on the when we were taking him to the puppy truck me, Gabby, and Megan (we were taking them to pick up Paris from the truck) were doing it to him in the car. He was being a silly boy:

Goodbye Meade

Today was Meade's recall day so it all started when I woke up and took him outside to go potty. After he went potty I took a shower and then I fed Meade. Then we hung out until it was time to go. We loaded Meade in the van and set off on his new adventure. The whole time in the car he sat where he could see me.

Along the way we picked up Megan and Gabby so they could pick up Paris. When Meade saw them he got so happy and gave them a lot of kisses. Then we started playing with him while in the car. If you say BZZZZZ to Meade he will start to get excited and if you poke him while you say it he will talk. It is really funny and there should be a video soon. When we got to the puppy truck we gave them Meade's information while Megan got Paris and stood kind of far away to avoid the truck... Then we got some pictures of Meade with his brother, McQueen:

After that we had to give in and put him on the truck. He was being a turd and wouldn't jump into the truck or the kennel... He knew he as leaving. Then in the kennel he tried guiltifying us into letting him out. But we were good and didn't take him out and run away...

We left pretty soon after that.

That's the story of my first GDB puppy drop off....

I am going to miss him. The biggest thing I will miss is his big head, big ears, and big lips... He has a great personality and he is super smart! Good luck MEADE!!!!

Meade Leaves Tomorrow.....

The Coffee Shop is owned by my mom's friend (who was also kind enough to take Meade and I to and from school!) and it was the first public place he got to go. And every time we go in we get him a cup of ice. He loves its :)

On the 15th I went to Kansas for my cousin's graduation. By chance my cousin lives in Washington, KS where KSDS is located. I decided to take a tour and had a lot of fun. They had some 8 week old puppies that were cute. They also have some resident cats there for training. They are very friendly cats.

Except they changed their name to KSDS a long time ago and it's just KSDS inc. now...

I didn't get to take Meade to Kansas because I didn't think he would like a 14 hour car ride. So he went to stay with Gabby, a soon to be puppy raiser.

On a different note School is almost out and Meade is enjoying his last days at WHS. He has made a lot of friends there and has had a lot of fun. One of his favorite people in the world works there, my Drama teacher. He is in love with her and starts to wag like crazy every time he sees her. I know Meade will miss the school but tomorrow he is going to make his mark there. Tomorrow we get our yearbooks and he will even get to "sign" everybody's. I made him little labels with his name and picture so that no one will forget him.

As you may know I have had Meade for over a year now and he is 15 months old. Which means it's recall time. He has been on tentative recall for June 27th for about a month now but then we got news of an Oregon bound puppy truck needing more puppies for June 12 and my Meado got put onto that truck for sure. I only have less then three weeks with him.... but he is smart and loves to work and he will do great :D

It's been two months since my last post......... I'm not that good at blogging........ :P

So anyway, nothing much has been going on lately. Meade and I went to Idaho to do a presentation for some cub scouts. That was ok. I guess. They were very quiet and I was didn't know if they were listening or not....

Another thing is I'm going to Kansas next month for my cousin's graduation and she just happens to live in Washington so when I'm there I'm gonna try to visit KSDS. I'm excited!

The other day I was trying to get a good picture of Meade for my digital photo class..............

No, I didn't Photoshop them! (I wish my Photoshop skills were that good....... I can barely put David Archuleta's head on someone else and make it look good.) This is what my camera took and it looks like Meade is a genuine Chocolate Lab. If you have any clue why this happened could you please tell me? I'm very confused. Also, how do I submit pictures for GDB's Calendar? Thanks

Service Animal Restrictions

I just got done reading Mandy's blog post about service animals. I thought it was a really good post and all her links were awesome! Now I am here to give my thoughts about service animals.

Firstly, I think psychiatric service animals are wonderful, to an extent. People feel the need to abuse service animals. For example, (this is a totally hypothetical thought) say someone with OCD went and got themselves an animal and trained it to calm them when they see some disorder, that is just not right.

Secondly, I think that all service animals should come from a legit service animal organization. If someone rescues an animal from the shelter and observes that the animal needs something to do with it's life they should make a job for them at home. You could have them fetch the newspaper, or pick up your baby's toys (for a nice cleaning) or you could even train them to turn on your electronic devices!

Thirdly, service animals should be a domesticated species. Dogs and mini horses fall into this category. I don't believe that monkeys should be used. I don't even think that monkeys should be kept as pets. And nobody had better play the "We evolved from monkeys". The fact is, we didn't! Genesis 1:26 and Genesis 2:7 should sum that up.

Fourthly, I think the U.S. Government should keep a record of all service animals. That should make rules and regulations that are consistent for the whole country. Shouldn't the government take care of it's people that are paying taxes to them? Even the disabled ones.

If you did read that whole thing I hope it didn't offend you in any way or for any reason. If it did I am turning on comment moderation and we can talk it out through email. I doubt it should but you never know.................

By the way, I am Christian. I do live in Utah but I am not LDS. Crazy, huh?

School, Snow, Christmas.........

Hello again! Where have I been? Oh, no where but home. Procrastinating a blog post.... eating some chocolate oranges.... watching Phineas and Ferb (I just downloaded the music from the series! :D). So yah! I'm back! Now for the bad news. Oh, you didn't know there was bad news? Well, sucks for you. The bad news is: this post won't have pictures!!!!! :'(

Ok, so firstly, the topic you all have been waiting for *drum roll* SCHOOL!!!!!! So here's the 411, the dealy-o, the low down. I put up that one little poster in the drama room. Then I realized that the drama room is in the reject corner. :P So it did no good. So days went by and more people kept touching him. He pooped in the hall once (Having a TEACHER inform you of that splendid tidbit is very embarrassing). So I finally realized I have had the absolute

wrong attitude about taking Meade to school. Everyday I was dreading people petting him without asking and everyday that would happen. So now I will look forward to people asking to pet him. With my new attitude there are only positive things and no negative things! A positive thought is hundreds of times more powerful then a negative thought. So when I go back to school this wonderful thought will be running through my head and EVERYTHING will go amazing! (Is that proper grammar?)

Secondly, SNOW!!!!! We finally got a perma-winter-snow (snow that lasts until spring). Turns out that Meado is afraid of snow. Ok, I should rephrase that. Meade doesn't like snow. It is a big pain when I am trying to relieve him in my PJ's. I have turned to throwing him in the snow and telling him DYB. Throwing him has been getting harder because he is weighing in at about 60 pounds now and is 10 1/2 months old!!

Thirdly, Christmas! Meade got a lovely Jolly Ball! Nearly killed us with it and we have determined it is an outside toy. He also got a new Nylabone and a new sterilized bone. Guess which is his favorite! Yup, the el cheapo sterilized bone. But it kept him busy while my family and I opened presents. What did I get? Oh, just a bunch of iTunes gift cards...... a laptop (:O).... and a SUPER COMPLETELY AWESOME LEASH! It is green just like GDB's jackets and it is the same leather style as GDB's leashes. It even has Meade's name printed on it! Now, I know I said no pictures but I just uploaded this from my cellular.

And where, might you ask, did my wonderful parents find such an awesome gift? Well, Let's just say she has one herself and you can see snippets of it here, she even hand made it.

Meade and I have been stuck in a routine rut for the past couple weeks. We have not done anything out of the ordinary. This is the reason why there haven't been any posts lately. :P

Sorry for lack of funness. Meade is 57 pounds now. That's funish. :/ That's about it.

Oh yeah! People at school are still stupid. I asked my mom to get me a stun gun for Christmas so I could taze the people who pet him without asking but she wouldn't go for it. I'm thinking about a squirt bottle... Do you think that's a good idea? Think I would get in trouble at school?

I got a pair of Toms Shoes. They are AWESOME!!!!! And eco-friendly! :)

I got a B+ in AP Bio. Worst grade I've ever gotten!!! :(

I watched some TV.

I got ticked off when I discovered I don't get the National Geographic Channel. Discovery just won't cut it!

BYU beat the UTES...... LAME!!!! :P

Ok, this is mostly for the people at my school, but I decided it wouldn't hurt anyone to put it on the blog! Lately, (more like since the beginning of the school year....) I have been having trouble with people at school about Meade. They seem to have no respect for him. Until now I have kept quiet and tried to be a people pleaser but now I see that won't work. I am now posting the following in my drama classroom, on Facebook, and here! I wan't to spread the word about this as much as I can. It is partially my fault that people have been so disrespectful (I'm not very assertive....) but now I want to resolve that and let people know the right thing! Thanks!

Saying Hello to a Guide Dog Team!
• As tempting as it may be to pet a Guide Dog, remember that this dog is responsible for leading someone who cannot see. The dog should never be distracted from that duty. A person's safety may depend on their dog's alertness and concentration.
• It is okay to ask someone if you may pet their guide. Many people enjoy introducing their dogs when they have the time. The dog's primary responsibility is to its blind partner and it is important that the dog not become solicitous.
• A Guide Dog should never be offered food or other distracting treats. The dogs are fed on a schedule and follow a specific diet in order to keep them in optimum condition. Even slight deviations from their routine can disrupt their regular eating and relieving schedules and seriously inconvenience their handlers. Guide Dogs are trained to resist offers of food so they will be able to visit restaurants without begging. Feeding treats to a Guide Dog weakens this training.
• Although Guide Dogs cannot read traffic signals, they are responsible for helping their handlers safely cross a street. Calling out to a Guide Dog or intentionally obstructing its path can be dangerous for the team as it could break the dog's concentration on its work.
• Listening for traffic flow has become harder for Guide Dog handlers due to quieter car engines and the increasing number of cars on the road. Please don't honk your horn or call out from your car to signal when it is safe to cross. This can be distracting and confusing. Be especially careful of pedestrians in crosswalks when making right-hand turns at red lights.
• It's not all work and no play for a Guide Dog. When they are not in harness, they are treated in much the same way as pets. However, for their safety they are only allowed to play with specific toys. Please don't offer them toys without first asking their handler's permission.
• In some situations, working with a Guide Dog may not be appropriate. Instead, the handler may prefer to take your arm just above the elbow and allow their dog to heel. Others will prefer to have their dog follow you. In this case, be sure to talk to the handler and not the dog when giving directions for turns.
• A Guide Dog can make mistakes and must be corrected in order to maintain its training. This correction usually involves a verbal admonishment coupled with a leash correction, followed by praise when the dog regains focus and correctly follows a command. Guide Dog handlers have been taught the appropriate correction methods to use with their dogs.
• Access laws, including the United States' Americans with Disabilities Act and Canada's Blind Persons' Rights Act, permit people who are blind to be accompanied by their guide dogs anywhere the general public is allowed, including taxis and buses, restaurants, theaters, stores, schools, hotels, apartment and office buildings.
• Before asking a question of a person handling a dog, allow them to complete the task at hand.
• Remain calm in your approach and mannerisms.
• Never tease a dog.

Today was Meades first day going on the school bus! This morning we went on the bus and the bus driver gave us a weird look (when I asked her if I could bring Meade she never gave me an actual answer so I just brought him). We went to school and everything was all hunky dorey the whole day. But alas, when I went to take him on the bus to go home we were denied access. Apparently, he is a danger to the children. We know for a fact that Hannah and Megan both have ridden the bus with their pups and they are in my same school district. Also, according to the Utah laws I have read what happened to me was illegal. We are fighting this and we would like to know your opinions about this so I posted a poll for you to vote! Weekend Trade/ Loss of Manhood

If you didn't read on Lauren's blog, me and her traded puppies on Wednesday night. I had so much fun with little Spike! It took about an hour for him to realize I was boss but after that he was really good. He did put some holes in my leash :/ but other then that I really enjoyed him! He was so hyper and always wanted to play! We even ran around the yard for fifteen minutes straight and he still wanted to run! We went inside though and I made him play with toy. School!!!!

Meade's first day of school was today! We got up like we normally do for school and did our normal morning routine until it was time to leave. I think Meade was a little confused when we got in the car because for the past week he has been left at the house when I have gone for school. We drove to school and got out, got him dressed and went in to school. We got there very early to avoids the gobs of students (1800 students in my school, check out what Megan said about it). After a little chit chat with my friends we went to English to get settled. Meade-o was a bit reluctant to go under the desk for about a minute so I had to "encourage" him to go under. I gave him his Goughnut and he settled in and chewed for about half the class and slept for the rest. From then I went out to potty him and we went to Drama! We were stopped in the hall by a very dog enthusiastic teacher who wanted to say hi to him. After that we continued our journey to Drama. We were late. Dangit!!! Next time we won't be stopped....... In Drama I set him under my chair and gave him his Goughnut again. About five minutes into class he thought that it was a good time to start chewing his Goughnut, but this time with a twist. He wasn't chewing it, he was rubbing his teeth agaisnt it to make a nice loud squeeky sound! I then took it away from him and he went to sleep for the rest of class. After that we went to the front office to meet my mom who picked him up. He didn't get to go to 3rd and 4th period because my 3rd period teacher hasn't given me an answer yet (I asked him on the first day of school and at first he thought I was blind and after I explaind my puppy was in training he said he had to talk to the administration even though I told him that they had already said ok.... he's not my favorite teacher....). And that was the end of Meade's school day! He is going back next Tuesday and Thursday too.

Long Overdue Post About Multiple Things

Ok, this is my long overdue post! Sorry about the wait but I'm a major procrastinator and school started this week so I've been busy. First things first, camping.

Taking Meade camping was so much fun! He did eat many things on the ground but other then that we had a good time. We started our camping trip by loading my family into the truck. Meade had to sit on my lap because there was no room on the floor. By the time we got to the mountain my legs were numb (he's a whopping 50 pounds now!!!). At the base of the mountain we stopped at a grocery store so I could get batteries for my camera. He was wonderful in the grocery store and all the employees loved him (like always!). After that we continued our

journey to one of the wonderful forrests of North America! We got to our campsite and unloaded. I had him DYB and then we went to play on a dirt mound that had a hole in it. I tried to get him to go through the hole but he just wouldn't.

After that we took a four wheeler ride up to a nice little meadow with a creek running through it. I had to ride on the back of the ATV and Meade sat on my lap. It hurt a whole lot!!! When we got there I got in the water with Meade and we had him swim around in the water. I think he enjoyed swimming. After that we explored the meadow. I discovered that Meade likes tall grass. He would run around in it like a maniac!

After that we went back and started a fire. I didn't want Meade to be eating stuff so he was in his kennel or walking with me. He really liked the fire so I set the the end of a stick on fire and showed it to him. He decided it would be okay to sniff the fire........ he learned very quiclckly not to touch it.

After that we went to bed and woke up the next morning. He gladly ate his breakfast. After that we went exploring. When we got back to the campsite it started snowing so we had to leave. Snow in August is not fun.

That was our camping trip!

Second item of buisness! Meade had his six month birthday!!! Time flies, doesn't it?

Okay, from the comments I've seen on Sammy's post I think this a subject some people would like to keep taboo! But, you'll have to deal with it because I am an impatient boy!!!! :D

Ok! I need some tips for when I take Meade to school! For those of you who have had a PIT with them will you tell me what worked for you and what didn't? I am pretty sure that they will let me bring him because one of the many (like 5) vice principals is Megan's dad and she says that she has threatened him for me!!! :D What's funny is that her bro-in-law was my vice principal at my middle school last year....

ANYWAY!!!! I really need some tips because I am starting to stress out about it!!!!

Meade Goes To Work!!!!

Today Meade got to go with my step dad to work! But to tell you that story I have to tell you this story:

(Isn't that super cheesy? :D )

A couple of weeks ago we decided that Meade was old enough to go to work with my step father! So he went to his boss to ask them permission and I guess they didn't know so they went to the next person that was in charge and........ Long story short! The presidant of the company had a meeting with a whole lot of people and they finally decided that he could come for 1 day only for 4 hours :/

It was what I call a "Wonky Wallaby" moment.........

Anyway, so today I had to get up at 4 in the morning and get Meade ready to go! So I waited all day and then he got home and gave me the report: HE WAS WONDERFUL!!!! This is what he emailed to my mom during the day:

Meade was a little wound up after the car ride and jumped on Rick. He
didn't seem to care about it.

Meade is behind me chewing on his rope and snotting up my floor mat. I
don't think the last part will come through on a picture.

I think I might have invented a new game. I have his leash wrapped around
my chair, if he takes off I might go on a ride too.

Sandra just got here, Meade stopped chewing long enough to look at her and
then went right back to chewing. Same thing with Galen, Neil, Kathy and
Martin.

We went to the park and took a little potty break around 7:00 and then we
were off to see the provider relations people. Meade really liked Chantel,
you could tell by the way he stuck his tongue down her throat. After that
it was time to get ice and take a pawer nap bwahahaha.

Meade really loved playing tug with Jared but Meade got bored with it
before Jared did.

Meade was indifferent to Lee even though Lee grabbed his face and rubbed
noses with him.

Today Meade took his first trip to the supermarket! We went in and went to the back of the store to get some milk and he started walking funny. So I started watching closer to see what was wrong and he was slipping on the floor. How do you get your puppies not to slip? Or do the just have to learn how to walk on the slippery floors?

So I checked it out and not only can you morph humans but you can also morph dogs! So I uploaded my dogs photos and morphed them with me! Enjoy!

Take Meade out to the Ballgame!

On Wednesday I took Meade to a minor league baseball game! I don't really like baseball but my parents thought it would be a good outing for him so we went! We got there and had to park FAR away from the stadium so we walked and crossed a few streets. Meade was very good crossing them and didn't really care about the cars! So then we got to the stadium and went in! Meade was really good while we walked to our seats. The people passing weren't so good, one of them almost stepped on his paw!!! (He really hates when his paws get squished! He screams bloody murder) The staff also gave us weird looks, but we continued on until we got to our seats. In outfield. On the cold ground :/.

Meado then had a rush of adrenaline and could not be controlled!!! So I walked him around and we played and when he finally started to go to sleep....!!!......!!!......!!!......!!!

Well, yesterday Meade got his jacket!!! It's the smallest size and he doesn't fit into it very well...

So after he got his jacket we went to the library. He was SO good. It was kind of scary.

And then after the library we went to one of those farmer stores to get him some more food, but they didn't carry it so we went over to where they were selling the chickens and ducks. Meade was to small to see where they had the baby ducks but he was big enough to see the chicks!

They were afraid of him and ran away when he got to close to the cage. They were curious though, as you can see in the next picture.

And then, FINALLY we got to go home. He was a very tired puppy!

That was yesterday, today he got to go to church with me! We got up in the morning and I played with him so he would get tired and hopefully sleep the whole time! Then we got into the car and made our way there! When we got there and got out of the car two people came up and they were walking their golden retrievers. One of them saw Meade and asked me "Is he a golden retriever?"

That was my first weird comment in puppy raising.

ANYWAY, the rest of church went fine. Everyone loved him and he loved everyone. And he slept! The only problems I had were when he threw a tantrum about his head collar. And telling people his name. They always think that his name is "me" then I have to say "no, meaDe" and if they still don't know I'll spell it out. I'm thinking of just introducing him as Meado from now on...

I have been researching Meade's siblings this past week (see the list of them in his stats over there →). I have found Mara, Marlowe, Mia, and Monet. All of his sisters except Misty, and I haven't found any of his brothers. Mara, first af all, is in my puppy club! Here is a picture of her!!

And Mia is in Colorado! I have contacted the group that she is in and hope to hear from her

raisers soon! Here she is!

And Monet is in California. I am in touch with her raisers. She is a very special puppy. As it says on her clubs website "While all of puppies are special, Monet is even more so as she is a heart surgerysurvivor. A minor heart defect was detected early on and surgery was performed. This is one of at least 7 puppies who have had this work done by GDB. " I don't have a photo of her though.

And lastly, Marlowe. She is in norhthern Utah. I haven't yet contacted her raisers!! And I don't have a picture.

She looks a lot like Rina in the way her head is shaped. She kind of has a princessy look. And she has a really manly bark.

P.s. MEADE IS LEGAL!!! We went to get his shots this morning. I would like to say that he was very good for the vet but......... yah. He wouldn't let her look in his ears. Usually he is wonderful when we play with his ears. :/

(late) Spring Cleaning

Well, since I am now out of school and don't have much to do during the day my mom has put me to work! I am now doing lots and lots of chores for her! Today I am cleaning the living room! So first I vacuumed.We have a wonderful vacuum! It is the Dyson Animal!!! It IS the VERY BEST for animal hair!! Of course they just came out with a newer version and we have the ghetto one...... so now it might be second best....Anyway, here is the canister before vacuuming!

And here is is after! It is so full of hair and dust that you can barley see inside!!!!

Then I decided to try and clean the carpet where Meade has had the most accidents. I used this stuff called Zorb that came with the vacuum. It is lemony smelling and yellow and looks like sawdust or couscous.....

It didn't work. :(

But the carpet smells good now :D

Well! I am done with school! And junior high! :D I am very unique because here in Utah the school system is a bit wacko! Elementary school is 1st-6th grade, Junior high is 7th-9th grade and high school is all of the rest! But not for me! The 8th grade class at my school will be going to a new high school that they are building!!! Because my school is over crowded! (Utah=TONS of kids!). Yah.... so that was pretty exciting for me!

I am having a photo shoot for Meado tomorrow so that I can get lots and lots of pictures! We have decided that he is cute enough to be in the GDB calender! Who knows? We will see when the time comes!!! By the way.... If anyone could get me information of when you can send in the photos and such could you tell me? Thank ya! :]

Wow... Meade seems extremely stupid today. I got his lunch ready and set it on the kitchen floor. He was on tie down in the other room. I told my mom to let him off tie down and I would catch him and make him wait for his food. So she let him off and he.........

Well it's official! I am a volunteer for Guide Dogs for the Blind! I got my confirmation letter today! Kind of late though! Should I tell them that I have had one of their dogs for a couple of weeks?

Meade learned to walk down stairs!! Yah! I am so proud of him! But since he did that now he is he big brave dog that can do anything.....Ya,..NO! He has tried jumping off, well (oh, crap! I can't remember!) big things and he falls flat on his face! (Oh yeah, it was the about 3-4' retaining wall in our backyard!). So here is a picture of Mr. Brave going down stairs!

Ok, maybe not! Guide Dogs might be kinda mad at me then.... The reason for his "ad" is that MEADE IS DRIVING ME CRAZY!!!!! He is really attention oriented! If you are not paying attention to him while he is on tiedown he wll start barking (which we ignore) or chewing on a cord coming out of the wall (then we rush over and get it out of his mouth!!!!)! And just today he has started PEEING on tiedown so we rush over and take him out!!!! I NEED HELP!!!! THIS IS A COMMENT ASAP POST!!!! HELP OR I AM GOING TO EXPLODE!!!!!

I've had a long LOOOOOOOOOOONNNNNNNNG day! First of all I didn't get much sleep last night because I stayed at the puppy meeting a long time afterwards chatting with Megan and Hannah! Then i got home really really late! So this morning at school during first period we did review for CRT's (WORSTEST INVENTION EVER!!!!) of course it can't be as bad as college finals but, it still sucks! Then second period I watched Twelfth Night! Some pro actors came to our school and performed it for us! IT WAS AWESOME!!! Thank you Mrs. Morrey (drama teacher) and Ms. Measom (english teacher). Then third period was more review for CRT's and forth period I formatted a newsletter into Microsoft publisher! Then after school I went home and saw Meade! It made me happy :) But then we had to take a trip to my dad's house! So when we got there he explored and has been really good so far! He met Petey and just wants to hang off Petey's ears. Petey isn't a big fan. And now Meade has gone to bed!

Happy birthday Meade! (If you can call it that, I don't know though...)

Well, in this post I was going to tell you how good Meade was and how he didn't have any accidents! Then out of the corner of my eye (Meade was on tiedown next to my computer) I see a puppy squating! So his perfect record for today was ruined..... sigh.

Well, before that whole ordeal I gave him his Galileo bone to chew. He started chewing but it slid across the floor out of his reach. I gave it back to him and it slid away again. So, I made a new toy for him! I stuffed the Galileo bone into his Kong toy! Now it looks like a cool cosmic ray gun!

Oh yeah! I have a question! Do you call your pups "dude" sometimes?

National Volunteer Week!!!!

YAY!!! I would like to start off this post by applauding all of you puppy raisers! *clap clap clap clap clap clap clap clap clap clap clap* It is a very big commitment that requires a lot of patience! Not everyone can do it!!! You guys help give confidence to people with visual impairments!! Ok, Meade is still very very smart! And I am over yesterday's trauma! Thank you for all of your reassurance! Meade's potty training is going very very very well. He only had 4 accidents yesterday! And only 1 today.............. so far. He also is starting to get the "let's go" command! We went for a walk around the circle I live on and he walked most of the time but he is a garbage mouth. His favorite thing is dandelions. But for the most part he is learning not to.

I feel like a horrible puppy raiser!!!

First off, I've forgotten Meade's name a couple of times!

Secondly, I was taking him off his tie down and he had his bone. He was so happy about his bone and was prancing around and for the one second that he was loose in the house he ran into my mom's office and ran head on into the filing cabinet!!!

I feel so so so so so so so so so so so sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo BAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He is very smart and I'm afraid that now he might not be!! He is (was) already understanding the "let's go" command!!!

Well, last night I poured a limp sleepy puppy into his crate at about ten o' clock. I then crawled into bed and started to fall asleep. About thirty seconds later a faint sound came from the kennel.

Then another.

Another.

Louder.

HE SNORES!!! He starts out really really quiet and it is kind of cute. Then minutes later he is really really loud!!! I mean REALLY loud! He slept pretty well the rest of the night. I had to take him out only once at about midnight.

Then about seven he woke up and this morning we started his training! His least favorite thing is "that's enough".

And now he is taking a nap right next to the laptop!

Well, Blogger is being a pain in the rump and won't let me upload any pictures!!!!

Ok, so we got to the puppy truck a little late, but they didn't start without us! Then I waited and waited and waited for my puppy! And then he finnally came! YAY! He is the second largest new pup in our group! Then, I took him to the grass to go potty. He didn't. He ate dandelions! So after picking a few flowers out of his mouth I picked him up again! Then we took a group picture of all the new pups in our group and I set Meade down and he pottied! Then we drove home and he was a very good boy! Then we got home and when I took him in the house he met the kitty! All he wanted to do was sniff the kitty! And the kitty let him! So then I let him explore the house and then we went outside to meet the pet doggies! All Meade wanted to do was play, but my pups wanted to sniff him! Then we came back in and I fed him (he is the messiest eater) and we let him explore some more! Then I handed him over to my mom to do this post and guess what! HE PIDDLED ON MY MOM'S WORK PAPERS!!!!! So she rushed him outside. They came back in and..... HE PIDDLED AGAIN! So I rushed him outside and he finished! Then I put him in his kennel to take a nap!

Oh, he is very playful and likes to play tug! He can go upstairs okay, but is scared to go down. and he doesn't know his name yet :(

OK, now on to the real post! Yesterday I promised that I would tell you about my crazy dream! And yes, It does involve puppies!

My dream started with a sunny day! I went outside and the puppy truck sped past me! It drove up to the top of the hill that I live on! The front of the truck was facing away from me and the whole back of the truck came off! Three dogs ran towards me! There was a very tall border collie, and two yellow terriers of some sort. The dogs came and I let them into my house. Then at the top of the stairs my puppy club leader appeared (like some sort of apparition) and I asked her why I had 3 puppies. Then it goes a bit fuzzy......

There you go! It was very very weird!

Oh yeah! I almost forgot! Guess who's 8 weeks old today!!!! Mr. M of course!!! YAY!!!!

Okay, so there is supposed to be a storm here this week!!! OH NO! And it is supposed to snow too!!! OH NO OH NO! BUT! It is supposed to be leaving on Thursday night, making it almost sixty degrees on FRIDAY WHEN THE PUPPY COMES!!!! OK, so the weathermen (and women) on all of the evening news thingies say it will the high will be 53, but this IS Utah and the actual temperature is also 5-10 degrees higher than the high!

I'm getting really nervous about messing up the puppy! I don't want to contribute to a messed up puppy! That would be no good! So my emotions this week have been Nervexciteous (a mixture of nervous and excited!) It is really a weird feeling!
